This is an excellent list . I hadn’t thought of Flowers for Algernon as a Science Fiction work, previously, but a great read in any event. I am a little surprised Mind Parasites didn’t make the cut, particularly given its cross-genre influence on subsequent books such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Definitely a fun read for younger fans of Sci Fi and was a childhood favorite alongside Brave New World and Ender’s Game.

I don’t know nearly enough about SF to quibble about the rankings. Of the books you haven’t checked off yet, I enjoyed “A Scanner Darkly”, “Snow Crash,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” the most.

I had a hard time getting into Starship Troopers, no doubt because I’d seen the movie first. Neuromancer is a good read and pretty short. Snow Crash is phenomenal…two enthusiastic thumbs up.
